5 Steps to Success in 2016
Whether your New Year’s resolution is personal or business related, it’s important to understand that, while about 40% of people in the United States will make a resolution, only about 8% of them actually manage to be successful in them. The success you want for your business is a lot like that New Year’s resolution; apply these helpful tips to become one of the 8% that achieve your goals.
Success means different things to different people; from having more time for home and family to increasing sales to breaking new ground. Be specific, if you’re vague you haven’t really defined what the goal is. Change how you think about the goal, go from, “I want to expand my reach,” to, “I want to increase my customer base by 10% each quarter in 2016.”
Remember to look at your goal from both a work and a personal perspective; will being successful in the new goal take away from other things that are important to you. Make sure you’re considering your work-life balance in all definitions for success, then you won’t lose sight of other things that are important to you on your path to success.
Make a Plan
Once you know what you want to achieve the next step is to create a plan of action to get you there. Don’t assume that knowing what you want to do is enough; write it down, draw a flow chart, visualize it and all the steps you’ll need to take to get you from Point A to Point B.
Don’t forget the contingency plan! Even the best laid plans can falter or run into obstacles, think about what those obstacles may be and include both pre-emptive and reactive actions as needed.
Answer 6 Basic Questions
Think like a journalist telling a story; answer the who, what, when, where, why, and how of the story and you’ll pinpoint any gaps in your plan. It doesn’t matter what the goal is these questions will need to be answered in order to make sure your plan stays focused on the end goal.
Give Yourself a Reality Check
After you’ve done the first three steps take a breath and look it over again; give yourself that much needed reality check to see if what you’ve put down is actually achievable. If the goal is to triple sales by the end of the year is that a realistic goal? Your plan of action should outline whether your goal is attainable; if it isn’t you can either adjust your goal or adjust your plan, but the reality check is your chance to make those adjustments before it becomes a costly problem.
Track Your Data
This step is why the first step is so important. You want to be able to measure your progress or find where it may be lagging; you do this by collecting and analyzing business data. There are various places to check for this valuable information: business reports, customer feedback, identifying what is or isn’t profitable, and keeping an eye on the competition.
I hope this article will help you to understand the why you should start using an on-line CRM funnel to promote your home based business, small business, MLM, etc.
Bringing It All Together
What does success mean to you? Whatever it is, be specific from start to finish. It won’t matter if you have a hundred different reports about your business if you can’t determine your level of success. The measure of your success should be an ongoing process of planning, implementation, and adjustment.
